June 9: 9 Summer Beverages to Keep You Hydrated

Staying hydrated with summer beverages (and iced-cold water!) is one of the simplest ways to save ourselves from the impending summer heat that could potentially leave us feeling fatigued, sweaty, and messed up without spending thousands on electric bills.

Let’s welcome the sunny season by refreshing and replenishing our bodies with some of the best summer beverages we can make at home! Beat the heat with these nine summer drinks that will keep us going in this sweltering and all that’s yet to come!


Pineapple Lemonade

Treat yourself to something refreshing, sweet, and wonderfully tropical this summer season! The good news is, it’s also unbelievably so easy to whip up!

What You’ll Need:

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup lemon juice
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice

Directions:

  1. To make your simple syrup, combine sugar and 1 cup water in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved; let cool.
  2. In a large pitcher, whisk together simple syrup, lemon juice, pineapple juice, lime juice, and 5 cups water. Place in the refrigerator until chilled. Serve over ice.

Peach Fizz

Let’s cool down with this refreshingly good peach fizz served with mint leaves and juicy raspberries for an added punch!

What You’ll Need:

  • 2 white peaches, stoned, finely chopped
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) lime juice
  • 1/4 cup (55g) caster sugar
  • Thinly sliced peach, extra, to serve
  • Raspberries, to serve
  • 1/2 cup (125ml) gin (optional)
  • Crushed ice, to serve
  • 1.25L chilled sparkling lemon or lime mineral water
  • Mint leaves, to serve

Directions:

  1. Combine the chopped peach, lime juice, and sugar in a saucepan over low heat. Cook until peach is very tender. Remove from heat and transfer to a blender. Blend until smooth. Place in the fridge to chill.
  2. Divide extra peach and raspberries among serving glasses. Combine peach puree and gin, if using, in a jug. Pour evenly among the glasses. Top with ice, mineral water, and mint. (If not using gin, add extra mineral water or soda water.)

Fresh Strawberry Water

Serve everyone a round of non-alcoholic summer drinks made with fresh strawberries, lime juice, and mint, and make everyone’s sunny season sweet and unforgettable!

What You’ll Need:

  • 500g strawberries, hulled, divided
  • 1/2 cup (110g) caster sugar
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt flakes
  • 1/4 cup loosely packed mint leaves (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon finely grated peeled ginger (optional)
  • Coarsely cracked ice
  • Select all ingredients

Directions:

  1. In a blender, blend 450g of the strawberries with the sugar, lime juice, salt, mint, if using, ginger, if using, and 2 cups (500ml) cold water until smooth. Press the strawberry mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a large bowl or pitcher. Discard solids. Stir another 1 cup (250ml) cold water into the strawberry mixture.
  2. Thinly slice the remaining 50g strawberries. Fill glasses with ice, mounding well above rims. Then, pour strawberry water over the ice and garnish with sliced strawberries. Serve immediately.

Watermelon Slush

Put together a summer-ready, thirst-quenching drink with only three simple ingredients in just five minutes! How easy is that?

What You’ll Need:

  • 5 cups diced seedless watermelon
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • Juice of 1 lime, optional

Directions:

  1. Combine watermelon, sugar, lime juice, and 1 cup ice in blender until smooth. Serve immediately.

Raspberry Peach Iced Tea

Tea lovers, you’re going to love this summer tea treat we’ve got for you! This lightly sweetened iced tea is wonderfully fruity and truly refreshing!

What You’ll Need:

  • 2 tea bags
  • 1 cup raspberries, plus more for garnish
  • 2 peaches, sliced, plus more for garnish
  • 3 tablespoons agave nectar, or more to taste
  • Mint leaves, for garnish

Directions:

  1. Steep tea bags in 4 cups boiling water according to package instructions; discard tea bags and let cool.
  2. Combine peaches, raspberries, and agave nectar in the blender until smooth; strain through cheesecloth or fine sieve.
  3. In a large pitcher, whisk together the raspberry peach mixture and brewed tea. Place in refrigerator until chilled.
  4. Serve over ice, raspberries, peach slices, and mint leaves, if desired.

Peach Prosecco Punch

Are you ready for this incredibly refreshing, bubbly party punch you can serve for your afternoon summer get-together this weekend? With just Prosecco, peach nectar, and fresh berries, your Peach Prosecco Punch will be the huge cherry on top of your guests’ summer season!

What You’ll Need:

  • 3 cups prosecco, chilled
  • 2 cups peach nectar, chilled
  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 1/2 cup blueberries

Directions:

  1. In a large pitcher, whisk together prosecco and peach nectar.
  2. Serve over raspberries, blueberries, and ice, if desired.

Easy Berry Sangria

A sparkling sangria with a chockfull of strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries? Yeah, count us in!

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 (750 mL) bottle rose wine
  • 1 cup strawberries, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup raspberries
  • 1/2 cup blackberries
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 12 ounces lemon-lime soda

Directions:

  1. In a large pitcher, whisk together rose wine, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and sugar.
  2. Let chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Serve over ice with lemon-lime soda.

Strawberry Pineapple Mimosas

A pretty drink deserves a spot on our list! Mix up this pretty-in-pink strawberry and watermelon cocktail and enjoy your afternoon by the pool– an inflatable kiddie pool, that is!

What You’ll Need:

  • 2 cups finely chopped watermelon
  • 250g strawberries, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup (250ml) coconut water, chilled
  • 1 tbsp fresh basil, shredded
  • 750ml chilled sparkling wine
  • Ice cubes, to serve
  • Basil leaves, to serve

Directions:

  1. Process the watermelon and strawberry in a food processor until smooth. Add the coconut water and shredded basil and process until well combined.
  2. Place the watermelon mixture in a serving jug and top up with wine and ice cubes. Serve with the basil leaves.
